A nofollow link attribute (rel=”nofollow”) tells search engines not to follow the link or pass any ranking value (link equity) to the destination page. It’s commonly used for paid links, user-generated content, or when you don’t want to endorse the linked site.
NoFollow / DoFollow
- NoFollow: Links that carry the nofollow attribute (see above).
- DoFollow: Normal links without nofollow. These pass link equity and allow search engines to crawl and rank the linked page. Most editorial links are dofollow.
